GEORGE M. BRIGHT, M. D. is a graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Bright completed a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas Medical Center. Following 3 years of practice in pediatrics and adolescent medicine in the Air Force in England, he completed a fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at Harvard Medical School in Boston. As Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Bright established the Adolescent Medicine program in 1968. He entered private practice in 1980.
POPPY GOFORTH, B. A., is a graduate of Gettysburg College, where she received a dual degree in Studio Art and Philosophy. She is certified as a Wilderness First Responder and a member of Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honor society. Before coming to BOE she worked as a Summer Youth Counselor for the Tioga County Job Training Office and the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania for three years before advancing to become the Summer Youth Program Coordinator. She also worked as Lead Facilitator and Outdoor Trip Leader for a program that she helped develop, the Gettysburg Recreational Adventure Board (GRAB), where she received over 450 hours of staff training in leadership development, group facilitation, ropes course facilitation, adventure-based skills, and outdoor programming. Ms. Goforth worked as the Senior Wilderness Instructor at BOE for three years before becoming Director.
